About this CEU
Behavior identification supporting assessment (CPT 97152) lets RBTs extend a BCBA's assessment capacity — but only when delegation, training, and documentation are done right. This course equips supervising BCBAs to structure RBT-supported assessment activities within scope of practice, from preference assessments and skill probes to ABC data collection. Participants will learn to build defensible supervision and documentation workflows that withstand payer audits, distinguish 97152 from adjacent codes, and account for state and payer variability. Emphasis is placed on the BCBA's role in directing, interpreting, and retaining clinical responsibility for all assessment data. *Coverable services under 97152 may differ by payer, please coordinate with payer to ensure coverage under an RBT provider
What you'll learn
- 1Identify at least four RBT activities that fall within the scope of CPT 97152 and distinguish them from activities requiring BCBA-level billing (97151). Describe the supervision and documentation elements required to establish a defensible 97152 claim, including oversight evidence and objective session notes. Develop a training and delegation workflow for preparing RBTs to collect assessment data accurately under BCBA direction.
