Show a save-the-date page before you're ready to publish

Building a conference takes time, but you don't have to wait to start telling people about it. Turn on a save-the-date page and your conference link shows a simple page — your dates, a few sentences, and a way for people to leave their name and email — instead of a 404.

1

Turn it on

On your conference page, find the Save the date card on the right and click Set up save the date. Turn on Show a save-the-date page, then fill in whatever you already know:

  • Headline— optional. Leave it blank and your page shows your conference’s title instead.
  • Start date / end date— both optional. Set a start date to show a date range and let people add it to their calendar; leave them blank if your dates aren’t locked in yet.
  • Location— “Virtual”, a city, or anything short.
  • Body— a few sentences about what’s coming, up to 2,000 characters. Plain text only — leave a blank line between paragraphs to start a new one.
  • Button label— what the signup button says. Defaults to “Keep me posted”.

The preview next to the form updates as you type, so you can see exactly what visitors will see before you save.

2

Share your link

Your save-the-date page lives at the exact same link your conference will use once it’s published — copy it from the Settings card. Share it anywhere: your website, social media, email.

The link doesn't change when you publish

While your conference is a draft, this link shows your save-the-date page. The moment you publish your conference, the same link automatically becomes your full conference page instead — nothing to update, nothing to re-share.
3

Collect signups

Visitors leave their name and email on the save-the-date page. You’ll see every signup on this page, with a count, and you can Export CSV any time.

OpenCEU doesn't email your signups

Save-the-date signups are capture-only — OpenCEU never sends an email to anyone on this list. When you’re ready to let them know your conference is live, export the list and reach out yourself.
4

Optional: use your own design

If your organization has custom HTML turned on, you’ll see a Custom HTML section under the settings. Paste or upload your own HTML there, check the preview, click Save, then Turn on. Visitors see your design, with the OpenCEU signup form right below it, so signups still land in your list here.

  • Two placeholders work here: {{OPENCEU_TITLE}} (your conference title) and {{OPENCEU_DATE}} (the dates from your settings above).
  • {{OPENCEU_PRICE}}, {{OPENCEU_CEUS}} and {{OPENCEU_REGISTER}}don’t work on a save-the-date page, because your conference isn’t on sale yet. We won’t save HTML that uses them. Save those for your full custom landing page.
  • The same rules as custom landing pages apply: no JavaScript, forms, or embedded videos, and images must be on an https:// address.
  • Turn it off any time to go back to the simple text page. Your HTML stays saved. This design is separate from your full custom landing page, so it never shows once you publish.
5

When you publish

Once your conference’s status is Published, your conference link always shows the full conference page — the save-the-date page is never shown again, even if you leave it turned on. Your signups aren’t lost: they stay on this page so you can still export them.
